| Hey, I've tried my hand at sports writing. Read my myspace trash-talk football picks if you want.
Hey guys,
Since everyone is always using myspace posts for next-to-usless stuff, I thought I'd do something dumb, but fun for me. So for the three people that care, I'm giving you (as titled) my playoff picks for the week. maybe this will be the first of many, or maybe this will be the last of one, but whatever. At least it's not a dumb survey. Keep in mind, so spell check, and I'm bad at typing.
Game 1
Jaguars at New England.
Since you know I'm a New Engalnd Fan, guess who gets this pick? I'll give you a hint, not the Jaguars. THese guys are lucky to be a playoff team, and no warm weather team is going to win in New England in the playoffs, it just doesn't happen. New England is healthier than they've been all season, with some key players back, and the reserves now more experienced at Belechik's ingenious strategy. While people point to New England's 9 player injured reserve to claim weakness, they fail to observe Jacksonville's 8. Everyone but the Jacksonville jokers themselves, who's team website has a whiney comment about "the walking wounded" Maybe someday, they'll have something confident to say, but I doubt it. And one last note, the last 2 Florida teams to play New England: Pat's second stringers lost by 2 points to Miami, and Tampa Bay, NFC South champs, lost 28-0.
Score- Patriots 35, Jacksonville Jokers 10 (and that's being nice).
Steelers at Cincinatti
Just like everyone else has, I'll say it too: Cincinatti in the playoffs? Won the division? Everyone's talking about Pittsburg's momentum, and the Bengal's deer-in-headlights status, but let's not forget that Carson Palmer was the USC hotshot before Leinart, and that these teams have played this game twice this year already(visiting teams won both times). This is the game to watch, no matter who your team is. With the teams so familiar with each other, and the rivalry hotter than it's been in years(14?), the last 5 mionutes of the game are going to be the most important. Honestly, I like both teams, and it's hard to pick, or root for either one, because it's leaves the other one with nothing, but here goes. Palmer reminds the world that USC is a school of winners.
Bengals 24, Pittsburg 21
Redskins at Tampa Bay.
The story's the same with almost every team in the NFC- big playmakers, big mistakes. The team that wins the NFC will be the one that doesn't make them. Both teams have made their share of collapses, and have great playmakers on both sides('skins' Portis, Santana Moss; Buc's Cadilac Williams, Jr. Simms) Where's the line? That's right, just where my bias is. Skins' QB brunell looks posessed by a demon, and Joe Gibbs lists his 2 accomplishments as winning the Superbowl and winning Nascar. Because he dares to put NFL in the same sentance as something as retardedly stupid and gay(yes, homosexual) as NASCAR racing, I give Gibbs a better chance of driving his dumb racecar to try and beat the team home(who are on a plane), to yell at them for making him look so dumb. (a classic case of blame shifting). On a serious note, the team that makes no mistakes and has the better pass rush will win.
Bucs 20, Redskins 12
Panthers at New York
Ohhh, here we go. All the Charlotte Natives talking about Superbowl chances, how they beat New England this year, blah, blah, blah. When they have a ring, they can brag. Yes, they beat New England, and yes it was before the injury plague fully manifested. Congratulations, I wasn't aware you won trophy's for beating the Super Bowl Champs the year after. When you win, you can talk. Not sooner.(that means I can talk all day, HAHAHA). But seriously. NY's most memerable blow it's of the year: 3 missed 'Feely" goals in a row against Seattle(it doubled his total missed NFL field goals ever), and recently against the Redskins(Oh, I hate the Redskins). Carolina's: Last second loss to Dallas(pull the bad call card if you want, it shouldn't have been that close) AT HOME, and the December loss to Tampa Bay AT HOME. You can't win at home in December when the division is on the line, and you expect to win the Super Bowl? Oh no. BUt I will tell you this. CArolina's biggger "blow it's" are replaced by a few things 1. The Giants defensive ends can't keep their mouths shut, adding adrenaline to Carolina's already top of the line defense 2. Most of these Carolina Players have already been to the Big Dance(thet just fell to the inevitable), and (the biggest one) 3. Eli is twice the QB Delhomme is, but still makes the impulsive bad choices. Count on him to make some this week, and watch Crolina advance(but I hope I'm wrong, so that all these people will shut up)
Carolina 25, NY 13
Since this is the first week, and there's 4 teams waiting to play, I'll comment on their chances.
Chicago.
No offense = No points = no win. Too bad Ulracher. Just think back to "happier" times when Jerome Bettis carried you over the end zone. Why was it happier? It didn't end your season.
Seattle.
Everyone calls them the NFC's best shot, but Seattle was 2 play away from the blow it syndrome. Under normal circumstances, the Giants would've beat them. The other? They were one complete pass away from losing to the bottom of the barrel 49ers. (poor 49ers, will they return to glory?) Will Seattle win a playoff game? Probably. Can they make it to the Superbowl? Possible. CAn they Win the big one? Not this year.
Denver.
Who are these guys? I don't know a thing about them. Except this- THey beat the injury plagued Pats in Denver by only 8 points. Too bad they weren't playing at Mile High Stadium anymore. I heard it used to be a cool place. No Super Bowl for them, but maybe a playoff victory, but will lose to Pats or Colts.
Indianapolis Colts.
If Chris Jones had Myspace, he'd try to burn my face, and talk trash. BUt he doesn't, so I'm the one that gets to talk trash. But I won't here. The Colts are the team to beat this year. They were 13-1 before the tragedy in coach D's family. THe only thing I can really say about the Colts is that they're emotional. THis can be a good thing, or it can be a bad thing(for them).New England beats them every year in the playoffs, but it's gonna take a little extra this year. Still, I'm sure all of Indy is rooting for the Jokers(I mean Jaguars). But this I will say. Whoever wins the New England/Indy game will win the Superbowl. If Indy beats the Pats in the playoffs, then the big monkey's off their back, and their confidence will shoot up 10,000 points. If New Engalnd wins, it means they're healthy enough to beat anyone, and that menas they will. But this year, diffent scenery. Indy's dome this year will bear witness to this chapter of the decade's biggest rivalry, instead of the snowstorm town of Foxborough.
Well, of you read this far, all I can say is ESPN.com must not be enough for you, or you find me amusing. Feel free to comment about my writing skills on my page, but know if you comment about my opinions, I will delete them, because there will be no anti Patriot blasphemy on my page. IT's MY space. Burn Face, hope you enjoyed it. |
